Your chamber is served by a staff of two.
Charles Carr serves as Executive Director. A Blount County native, Carr is a graduate of Oneonta High School and Snead Junior College. He earned a bachelor of science and a master of education degrees from Auburn University. Carr received an Ed.S. certificate and has done additional graduate study at UAB.
He was a public school teacher in Blount County and also taught at Snead State Junior College and Wallace State Community College.
He served on the staff and cabinet for Governor George Wallace and Governor Guy Hunt. He retired as Director of Governmental Relations at the Department of Postsecondary Education and worked as a private consultant before joining Community Bank. He became the Executive Director of the Blount County-Oneonta Chamber of Commerce in 2002.
He attends Arab First United Methodist Church and is married to the former Brenda Maynor of Oneonta. They are the parents of a son, Jonathan, who practices law in Washington, D.C.
Aimee Wilson serves as Assistant Director. Also a Blount County native, Wilson is a graduate of Oneonta High School and Auburn University. She earned a bachelor of arts in corporate journalism.
She spent several years in the public relations field before becoming a features writer for The Gadsden Times. Before joining the chamber, Wilson did contract work with local companies to help in their efforts of community outreach and service.
Currently, she is serving as the chairperson for Blount County’s 2009 United Way Campaign.
